I have a violent allergy to penicillin and wear a MedicAlert bracelet which allows emergency personnel telephone access to my medical records and alerts them immediately to the fact that I have this allergy. (It also has engraved on it that I take Propranolol and wear contact lenses).

Now, I have never been in a position where my bracelet has been needed, but I can see where it might be useful to our children...

Has anyone got a bracelet (or necklace) from the MedicAlert Foundation for themselves or their children, and has it proved useful?

I was considering organising one for Charlotte to wear when she isn't at school, as if (God Forbid) I was to crash the car or fall ill, it would help those around her to understand her....

Ah, Grandma...if only.....

Sadly it has already been done by the MedicAlert Foundation!

The poster search is continuing, but no luck yet....don't like giving in though.

I got my pa a poster from the US where an ancester of mine is not exactly famous, but is known for his work (with his business partner) and nobody here has ever heard of him!!

It didn't cost much more to have it shipped over here and it was in pristine condition when I got it. I can't get a letter from my aunt in Devon without it having footprints on it or it's mangled in some way!

Wow that is a great idea!!! Dunno anyone that has had one for their child's ASD tho hun sorry, i think (even tho we dont like to think of what can happen to us, but its realistic i know) its a very wise thing to do IMO Smile

I think I'll do it for her for when she's out of school...

I do have a note of her condition wriiten in my diary which goes everywhere with me, but if we are separated (or worse) then at least whoever is dealing with her will be aware that she has an ASD and isn't trying to be difficult...

I already carry around a list of all my meds, but am in the process of writing lists to all those who I think needs it, in casethey interact with other drugs I might be given in an emergency x
